TRE SCENARI SULLA PERCEZIONE DEL TEMPO – ATTO I: LA MEMORIA

2021
Numero Cromatico studio, Roma

Tre scenari sulla percezione del tempo is an environmental and immersive exhibition project conceived as an ever-changing journey that proceeds in stages. The exhibited artworks and the exhibition itself changed as time went by, starting from three main scenarios – Atto I, Atto II, Atto III. The public was thus encouraged to come back and witness the evolution and growth of the exhibition itself. The project is not intended as an exhibition in the usual sense of the word, but rather as a multisensory aesthetic experience sparking from Numero Cromatico’s artistic and scientific research.

Atto I: La Memoria is the first act of Tre scenari sulla percezione del tempo in Numero Cromatico’s project space in the historical neighbourhood of San Lorenzo, Roma. The opening was on June 19, 2021, from 5:50 until 8:80 pm.

In the first scenario, the space was set up with ten artworks of different sizes: panels on which mosaics of real flowers (Limonium Sinuatum, in Italian also known as “Sempre vivi”) were composed. The monochrome or camouflage backgrounds of the artworks contained texts generated with the help of an artificial intelligence trained by Numero Cromatico called P.O.E. (Poetry Of the End) to generate epitaphs, poems on the end, epigrams, and memorial texts.

The space also featured large curtains and the floor was completely covered in hay, which gave off a strong smell. A narrow pathway accompanied one visitor at a time in the discovery of the artworks. A white noise that could not be clearly discernible was coming from a seemingly unreachable place it kept the outside world out while isolating the viewer.
