TRE SCENARI SULLA PERCEZIONE DEL TEMPO – ATTO II: LA VISIONE

2021
Numero Cromatico studio, Roma

Tre scenari sulla percezione del tempo is an environmental and immersive exhibition project conceived as an ever-changing journey that proceeds in stages. The exhibited artworks and the exhibition itself changed as time went by, starting from three main scenarios – Atto I, Atto II, Atto III. The public was thus encouraged to come back and witness the evolution and growth of the exhibition itself. The project is not intended as an exhibition in the usual sense of the word, but rather as a multisensory aesthetic experience sparking from Numero Cromatico’s artistic and scientific research.

Atto II: La Visione is the second act of Tre scenari sulla percezione del tempo in Numero Cromatico’s project space in the historical neighbourhood of San Lorenzo, Roma. The opening occurred at dawn on December 8, 2021, from 7:26 am until 9:00 am.

In the second scenario, the space was arranged with ten artworks of different sizes consisting of tapestries presenting texts generated with the help of an artificial intelligence called I.L.Y. (I Love You), which Numero Cromatico trained to generate love poems. The space, at first glance, featured partition structures made up of rough, bare bricks as well as three large, lime-painted walls, which were also responsible for the olfactory experience of the place. By walking through the space, alongside the brick walls, the public could gradually catch a glimpse of the artworks in a labyrinth that was no longer bare: the entire exhibition was fully visible once visitors had reached the end of the constructed space. It was only by looking towards the exit that spectators could eventually see the large monochrome tapestries. As with the first scenario, visitors were to enter one at a time, yet this time they were free to move within the space as they wished. A white noise, still unidentifiable, was coming from behind the last wall the public was invited to lean out and catch a glimpse of the last artwork on the path.

The exhibition project was supported by the Italian Council (10th edition, 2021) program – Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
