The workshop Barely imagined beings involved 20 members of Soho House Rome on the occasion of ROMADIFFUSA – San Lorenzo Spin-off.

The workshop began with a brief history of bestiaries in Western culture, used as a foundation to introduce participants to the practices of Numero Cromatico.

The experimentation continued through the creation of collages based on matrices of forms drawn from Numero Cromatico’s bestiary. Participants thus created “barely imaginable beings”, which they then fed to artificial intelligence, asking it to generate names and descriptions for the beings they had created.

On one hand, the workshop brought participants closer to the research of Numero Cromatico; on the other, it provided an opportunity to explore new expressive frontiers and to stimulate lateral thinking through the manipulation of symbols and icons from the realm of fantasy.
