The editorial series Sinapsi [synapses] collects texts published in the journal Nodes since its foundation, as well as unpublished content. It delivers different writing forms: essays, interviews, scientific articles and of wide circulation.

The intention is to make accessible to readers, on the one hand, contents that are no longer available and, on the other hand, topics and writing never published before.

ABSTRACT VOL.10

The psychology of art is a complex science born from different disciplines: sociology, aesthetics, art history, experimental psychology, psychoanalysis, mathematics, anthropology, and theories of art. All these disciplines are brought together in a functional and reciprocal relationship. To explain, predict, and create artistic events, we need a theory of aesthetic experience, a theory of artistic creativity, and a general theory of art. History itself will judge.

In this article, I will outline the Eventualist Theory of artistic creativity and suggest that both dreams and art are functions of human evolution: the former concerns the individual person, while the latter concerns a defined cultural population.

Both provide an adaptation to the unpredictable changes of the future. In addition, some images that stimulate dreaming will be discussed.
