Spazio Taverna invited Numero Cromatico to come up with a project for their format Esperienze. Such format involves the creation of “environmental art installations with the potential to bring a transformation in the public. From the encounter of the most diverse worlds, artworks are born and, in the duration of an evening, they are able to shorten the distance between the artist, artwork and viewer.” 

For the experience at Spazio Taverna Numero Cromatico presented Poveri umani with the special participation of the historic Turin-based theatre company Marcido Marcidorjs e Famosa Mimosa. With this project, the artist was awarded with the prize called Premio Taverna 2022, given to the best project presented in the series Esperienze during that year. 

In Poveri umani, Numero Cromatico and Marcido Marcidorjs e Famosa Mimosa merged their practices in an unusual guise – the audience was guided in an experience of relationship with others as well as with oneself. The experience constituted for the participants some sort of epiphany, one that was common as well as always different from person to person.

Biography

Marcido Marcidorjs e Famosa Mimosa was born in 1984 from the artistic encounter of Marco Isidori (head director), Daniela Dal Cin (painter/scenographer), and Maria Luisa Abate (actress). Paolo Oricco (actor) joined in 2000. 

Animated by strenuous experimentalism, the group undertook an obsessive search for the total work of art, called “teatro ulteriore” . In the performances, the actors declaim shattered phrases taken from classical and modern theatre texts, reducing them to musical scores.

In November 2015, at the end of its 30th anniversary, the company inaugurated the theatre MARCIDOFILM!

With Poveri umani, Numero Cromatico won Premio Taverna 2022.
