Bartolomeo Pietromarchi with Chiara Bertini and Fanny Borel
Diario Notturno. Di sogni, incubi e bestiari immaginari is the group show curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi with Chiara Bertini and Fanny Borel that presents the works of thirteen international artists born in the last thirty years of the last century, paying homage in its title to one of Ennio Flaiano’s literary masterpieces.
Resterai con me per tutta la notte (2024) is an environmental, site-specific installation – 4 metres high and 40 metres long – spanning along the entire perimeter of MAXXI L’Aquila’s Sala della Voliera. The artwork is an attempt to transform the architectural space and activate – through these large shapes with no defined form – a perturbing mechanism in the public, a mechanism of interpretation and discovery by digging into their deepest memories.
The title Resterai con me per tutta la notte – borrowed from a verse by P.O.E., one of Numero Cromatico’s artificial intelligences – is a further stimulus for the audience and alludes to the projective power of ambiguous images, even after a long period of time and during our dreams as well.
The shapes are part of a visual alphabet comprising letters, symbols and forms, collected over the past few years, also through the use of artificial intelligence algorithms.
The installation aims to stimulate in the public the typically human capacity to imagine, confronting one’s inner contents and seeking to question, expand and transform what it means to be human and what it means to be part of a natural organism so extraordinary, as our planet Earth.
